Each movie comes in two versions a low resolution "Preview Movie," and a VHS quality "High Quality Movie."

High Quality Movie:
The "High quality movie" plays in a large frame with VHS quality that you can play for the whole class, using an overhead monitor or projection screen. Your Internet connection is probably not fast enough to play the movie directly from the web site, so it's best to download the movie and save it on your own computer. Then it's ready when you are. It only takes a few minutes to download the movie, depending on your Internet speed.

To download a movie:
PC: Right click on the movie you wish to save, then left click on "Save Target As"
Mac: Hold down the Control key, click on the movie link, then select "Download Link To Disk

Preview Movie:
The "Preview movie" will play in a little box with lower resolution, and should play directly from the web site. Just click on the "Preview movie" link, and give it a few seconds to start. It provides a quick way to preview a movie before downloading the VHS quality. (You can also preview a movie even more quickly by reading the script. The script for each movie is posted alongside each movie as a PDF file.)

Trouble shooting:
The "High Quality Movies" are MPEG format and play on both Mac and PC, on either QuickTime or Windows Media Player. If a movie opens, but looks or sounds choppy, that means your Internet connection is not fast enough to play the movie directly from the web site. Follow the download instructions above, and the movie should be fine.

If a movie player (QuickTime or Windows Media Player) does not open when you open a movie, you need to update your software, which is free. Newer versions of the media players are recommended. You will need QuickTime 6 (or equivalent) which is a free download. (Click here for QuickTime) The newer version of Windows Media Player is also a free download. (Click here for Windows Media Player)

The "Preview Movies" use the Flash movie player, and play directly from the Web site. (They cannot be downloaded.) It's normal for the "Preview movie" to play in a small box with low resolution, but the sound should be clear. If you have any trouble viewing a Preview Movie, you may need to update your Flash media player, which is also a free download. (Click here to update your Flash media player)

You will need Adobe Reader to open and print the discussion and worksheets, which are PDF files. Reader is also available as a free download. (Click here for Adobe Reader.)
